Heritage Natural Meats is a collective effort on the part of several small family ranches in Idaho, to practice sustainable agriculture while humanely producing gourmet quality, free-ranging, grass-fed, pastured pork, lamb, beef, poultry and specialty meats from endangered and threatened heritage breeds of livestock.
Here you can find out-of-this-world flavor in organically-raised, all natural, slowly-raised meats. Whether you be a connoisseur of fine flavor and rare foods, a health-conscious consumer, or eco-conscious eater, at Heritage Natural Meats you will be able to find something to tempt your palate and ease your soul.
Please spend some time learning about our producers--the new breed of women in agriculture that are returning to traditional ways of raising food-- as well as the livestock and poultry breeds themselves to learn why historic, heritage-breed, naturally raised meats are different, taste better and are better for you, the animals, and the planet.
Our animals aren't just a business, they are members of our extended families too. We don't rush their growth to get them to market rapidly and cheaply, nor do we raise fast-growing "production" breeds. Our animals have a nice, leisurely, peaceful life, living outdoors, doing what livestock does. They are not give growth hormones or stimulants, fed antibiotics or unnatural feeds, and are not finished on crowded, dirty feedlots. Giving them such a high quality of life means our animals usually take longer to reach their peak size and flavor and they sell out quicker that they can be replaced. We are not a supermarket or mass marketer. You can taste the difference.
